Online Casino Games - Poker Ride

What Is Poker Ride?

Poker Ride is a progressive five-card online poker game. It is derived from a popular poker game called Let It Ride. What makes Poker Ride different from, and even better than, Let It Ride is its progressive jackpot which grows and grows until it pays out an enormous sum of real money to a lucky winner.

Winning at Poker Ride requires both luck and strategy. The luck part lies in what cards you are dealt. The strategy part lies in deciding when to call and when to raise, so as to keep your losing bets small and your winning bets big.

How to Play Poker Ride

Before you even start to play Poker Ride, take a good look at the virtual Poker Ride table. You will see four betting circles, labeled Ante, 1, 2, and Jackpot. The game of Poker Ride consists of three rounds: the Ante round, the first betting round, and the second betting round. There is also the Jackpot bet which will be discussed separately.

In the Ante round of online Poker Ride, you place a bet in the Ante circle. Then, after you click the Deal button, you will receive three cards face up and the dealer will receive two cards face down.

In the first betting round, after examining your three cards, you click either the Call or the Raise button. If you call, your bet amount stays as it is; if you raise, an additional bet equal to your Ante bet is placed in Betting Circle 1. Either way, after you call or raise, the dealer's first card is turned over and becomes your fourth card.

The second betting round is a repeat of the first betting round. You examine your four cards and then make a decision to call, which keeps your bet amount as is, or to raise, which places another bet equal to your Ante bet into Betting Circle 2. After you Call or Raise, the dealer's second card is turned over and becomes your fifth card.

At this point, the game is over. All that remains is to examine your hand and see if you won Poker Ride and, if so, how much.

How to Win at Poker Ride

Poker Ride is not played against the dealer or against other players. Winning at Poker Ride is based strictly on an objective measure of how good your five-card poker hand is.

To win at Poker Ride, you need a pair of tens or better. A pair of tens, or any higher pair, pays out even money. Two pairs pays 2-to-1, and three of a kind pays 3-to-1. As your poker hand gets better, the payout gets higher. A straight pays out 5-to-1, a flush pays 8-to-1, and a full house pays 11-to-1. The highest payouts are 50-to-1 for four of a kind, 200-to-1 for a straight flush, and 1,000-to-1 for a royal flush.

Now you can see the importance of a poker betting strategy when playing online Poker Ride. Needless to say, you are bound to win some hands and to lose some hands. But if you call when you are likely to lose, and raise when you are likely to win, you can minimize your losses and maximize your winnings and thus come out ahead in the long run.

The Jackpot Bet and the Progressive Jackpot in Poker Ride

The Jackpot Bet is an optional side bet in Poker Ride that creates the potential for even bigger real money winnings. The amount of the Jackpot Bet is fixed at one credit and it is placed in the Jackpot betting circle on the poker table. (One credit means one unit of whatever currency you are using, such as one dollar, one pound, or one Euro.)

To win the Jackpot bet, you need a flush or better. If you have made the optional Jackpot bet, a flush will win you 50 credits, a full house will win 100 credits, and four of a kind will win 500 credits.

The best Jackpot wins are when you tap into the progressive jackpot. A progressive jackpot is a jackpot with no fixed amount and no limit. Every time someone makes a Poker Ride jackpot bet in Wild Jack Online Casino or any other Microgaming online casino anywhere in the world, more money is added into the progressive jackpot. In Poker Ride, a straight flush wins 10 percent of the jackpot, so if the progressive jackpot is 150,000 credits, for example, a straight flush will win you 15,000 credits. (Don't forget: credits means real money in your particular currency.)

Best of all is a Royal Flush, which wins 100 percent of the progressive jackpot. That could mean 150,000 units of your currency, or even more. Online poker doesn't get much better than that.
