Craps Strategies
Rolling the craps dice is purely a matter of luck. You have no control over how the dice will land. You have total control, however, over how you place your craps bets. That is where craps strategies come into play.
Take the Odds
The Odds bet in craps is the only bet in the whole casino that has no house advantage at all. It is called the Odds bet because it pays out strictly according to the true odds of winning. This is an opportunity you should take advantage of to the fullest extent possible.
You can make the Odds bet, also known as taking the odds, only if you have initially made the Pass Line bet. The Odds bet is made after a point has been established on the come-out roll. The Odds bet is an additional wager that the point will be rolled again before a 7 is rolled.
The Odds bet is a little bit of a secret. There is no place on the craps table marked "Odds Bet." To place the Odds bet when playing online craps, click on the Pass Line area of the virtual craps table. Each click of your mouse will wager one coin on the Odds bet.
Many craps casinos allow Odds bets of only two times the amount of you Pass Line bet. Others, including Wild Jack Casino, allow you to bet up to three times the amount of your Pass Line bet. The best craps strategy is to take maximum advantage of the best bet in the casino by wagering the maximum permissible amount on the Odds.
The odds of rolling the point before a 7 depend on what the point is. The payout on the Odds bet varies accordingly. If the point is 6 or 8, the Odds bet pays 6-to-5; if the point is 5 or 9, the Odds pay 3-to-2; and if the point is 4 or 10, the Odds pay 2-to-1.

Choose Your Craps Bet Wisely
Suppose you want to wager that a 6 will be rolled before a 7 is rolled. There are actually three ways to bet on this outcome:
Make a bet on Big 6. This bet pays out even money. A winning $10 bet will win you an additional $10.
Make a Place To Win bet on 6. This bet pays out 7-to-6. A winning $10 bet will win you an additional $11.60.
Make a Buy bet on 6. This bet pays out at true odds of 6-to-5, but the casino takes a 5 percent commission from your winnings. A winning $10 bet will pay you an additional $12, minus a commission of $0.60, for a net win of $11.40.
Thus, you can see that a winning roll of 6 can win you $10.00, $11.40, or $11.60, depending on how you placed your wager. The best bet, of course, is the Place bet, which offers the highest payout for the same roll of the craps dice.
Learn All You Can About Craps
Craps is not a difficult game to play, but it is complicated in the sense that there are so many different bets, each with its own odds, payout, and house advantage. There are also craps systems, with names like the "Doey-Don't System," that involve placing multiple offsetting wagers to minimize your risk. The more you learn about the craps bets and the craps systems, the more you will be able to choose the best craps bets and devise a winning craps strategy.
